In a glittering ceremony in Sydney last week, Dappled Cities collected an award for ‘Independent Album Of The Year’ at the Rolling Stone Australia music awards, for their album Zounds. The award was the latest in a string of honors for the band, including nominations for ARIA and AIR Awards. Stop by the Dappled Cities MySpace to have a listen.

Dappled Cities’ Granddance was recently voted the #3 Sydney album of the 2000’s by Sydney Radio Station FBI. Check out the full list here. If you haven’t heard it yet, you can download Granddance (produced by Eulogies frontman Peter Walker) for FREE here.

Pitchfork posted their review of Dappled Cities’ Zounds today, giving it a 7.8/10 and calling it “ambitious… widescreen music full of big gestures and sweeping melodies.” Preview the record below if you haven’t had a chance to listen – we promise you won’t be disappointed!

Dappled Cities have been nominated for an ARIA award! For those of you not familiar with the Australian music scene, the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards is an annual awards night celebrating the best of Australian music. Dappled Cities are nominated in the Best Independent Release category, for the recently released Zounds. Congrats fellas!

Dappled Cities’ Zounds is out today! After debuting at #1 on the Australian Independent Albums chart, reviews are pouring in from across the globe. Rolling Stone calls the album “consistently rewarding.” Music Network describes the “intricate instrumentation, soaring melodies and haunting atmospheres.” Give it a few listens and see for yourself what the buzz is about.

Dappled Cities Zounds debuted as the #1 Australian indie album this week, according to Aircharts. Zounds is available in the US on September 15. Mark your calendars!

We’re excited to unveil the brand new Dappled Cities video: “The Price”

Their sophomore LP, Zounds, is currently available for preorder; it hits record stores on September 15th.

This morning Dappled Cities were announced as part of the line-up for Australia’s Splendour In The Grass Festival, which takes place over 2-days in Byron Bay on the north coast of NSW on July 25-26.

Dappled Cities will be joining Jane’s Addiction, The Flaming Lips, Bloc Party, The Happy Mondays, Doves, MGMT and more on the bill of this iconic Australian festival.

Music Network in Australia have just reported this week’s national radio airplay charts, and Dappled Cities ‘The Price’ is currently the #1 most added track on the Alternative/Indie chart! After a year in the making, Dappled Cities are set to unleash their new album, Zounds, to the masses. Tim will be heading into the Triple J studios for an interview and the world premiere of the new single ‘The Price’ at 4:30pm Tuesday in Sydney (11:30pm tonight – May 11 – on the west coast). Dappled Cities was honored Saturday night at the Sydney Opera House with a SMAC (Sydney Music, Arts and Culture) Award for Best Music Performance. The prestigious award comes at the end of a busy spring (fall?) for the Sydney-based quintet, as the band had just returned from New York, where they were finishing mixes for their third album with producer Chris Coady (TV On The Radio / Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Just as their Australian tour comes to a close, Dappled Cities have just been selected to support Modest Mouse in Sydney, and soon after, they’ll be playing Sydney’s Big Day Out festival.

Dappled Cities, currently in the midst of a sold-out Australian tour for their new Granddance album, will perform a show to 100 lucky fans in a secret Sydney venue next Tuesday, December 5, 2006. The entire planet can tune in live at 1 AM US Pacific Time (late night Monday) to watch a webcast of the performance, and participate in a live and interactive Q&A with the band after the show.
