Sea Wolf’s Turn The Dirt Over 7” & digital single is available in stores and online today. The release features the b-side of “Turn The Dirt Over (Cookie Duster Remix)” by Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene.

Limited to a pressing of 500 on black vinyl, the 7” includes a download card for both versions of the song, plus a previously unreleased third track called “Where The Wind Blows.”

On August 31st, Sea Wolf will be releasing a 7” vinyl-and-digital single for “Turn The Dirt Over” from last year’s album White Water, White Bloom.

The two-song 7” will be available at Sea Wolf’s solo/acoustic headlining tour, on the Dangerbird Records webstore, and at indie music retailers nationwide. Also look for the single on iTunes and all digital stores on August 31st.

Los Angeles based indie-folk band Sea Wolf will be hitting the road on a full U.S. tour in September. This special tour will be the first time Sea Wolf’s Alex Brown Church will be touring solo – just Alex and his acoustic guitar.

All shows will include opening performances from fellow singer/songwriters Sera Cahoone and Patrick Park.

Sea Wolf joined the ‘New Moon’ cast on the red carpet last night in Westwood to celebrate the Friday (NOV 20) release of the latest movie in the Twilight series. Spin was there to capture the evening, and even spoke with Sea Wolf’s Alex Brown Church. Full article on spin.com.

Just in time for Halloween, Sea Wolf brings you ghosts and ghouls aplenty in his video for “Wicked Blood.”

The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack is in stores and online today (OCT 16) and features a previously unreleased song from Sea Wolf entitled “The Violet Hour.” The movie is slated to open in theaters nationwide on November 20th. Joining Sea Wolf are some of modern music’s most gifted and admired artists, including Thom Yorke, The Killers, and Death Cab for Cutie, who contributed the album’s first single, “Meet Me On the Equinox.” Also featured are previously unreleased tracks from Bon Iver & St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, Lykke Li, Band of Skulls, Editors, Anya Marina and Muse. White Water, White Bloom hits stores one week from today!

Here’s the first in a series of video podcasts on Sea Wolf’s latest album, White Water, White Bloom.

An expansive collection of modern mythology and lush orchestration, Sea Wolf’s sophomore LP, White Water, White Bloom, will be released on September 22. Akin to Sea Wolf’s debut LP, Leaves in the River, the latest was penned solely by Alex Brown Church but was this time recorded with a full band, which expanded the sonic palette. These new compositions were injected with a raw, dynamic energy that the band developed through extensive touring together, and will be unveiled on a cross-country six-week tour beginning in September. The album can be pre-ordered here via Dangerbird starting today. Fans have the choice of a 180-gram vinyl package that comes with two vinyl-only bonus tracks and a digital download card or a standard CD digipak with fold-out poster. You can also download a bonus track from the new album, “Stanislaus,” here.

Upon completing his extensive touring cycle behind Leaves, lovestruck Church followed his muse to Montreal last fall and began to write his second album. Here, in a new and unfamiliar environment, he was flooded with inspiration and let his surroundings seep into his songwriting. “Being somewhere new, away from your home, you spend a lot of time observing and reflecting,” Church revealed, “And just the feeling of a new city can inspire new ideas, new places to explore in your music.”

Church headed to Omaha and enlisted the aid of producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, M Ward) to help him capture his vision for the album in the studio. Alongside keyboardist Lisa Fendelander, bassist Ted Liscinski and drummer Joey Ficken, Church and Mogis crafted a rich foundation for the songs to sit upon.

White Water, White Bloom is set against the changing of seasons and unfolds like an epic poem over 10 tracks. Pulsing with evocations of nature at its most elemental, Church’s songs are filled with vivid imagery and a cinematic sense of movement. From the opening orchestral swell of “Wicked Blood,” to the driving rock of “O Maria!” and culminating with the dreamy folk farewell of “Winter’s Heir,” Sea Wolf deftly navigates a variety of musical waters, leaving a reel of striking imagery in their wake.

Sea Wolf has contributed a song entitled “Song of the Magpie” to the upcoming audio book for Augusten Burroughs’ new book “A Wolf at the Table”. Burroughs asked Sea Wolf’s Alex Brown Church to read the book and respond with an original song. The results hit shelves on April 29th; be sure to check it out.

Paste Magazine has named Sea Wolf the band of the week this week, saying (among other things): “Leaves In The River, the band’s full-length debut, is chock full of experience, with songs so descriptive that you can visualize them, feel them and file them into your consciousness long before fully absorbing their content”.
